Dreamstime Reaches 30 Million Images Milestone

With close to 1.5 million new files submitted each month, fast-growing, high-quality stock photo site reaches 10 million registered users

NASHVILLE, Tenn., March 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Dreamstime, the leading community in stock photography, today announced the company recently surpassed 30 million uploaded images. The global stock photo company has more than 10 million registered users and several hundred thousand new images uploaded weekly.

With affordable credit packages, monthly subscription plans, extended licensing options and full buyout opportunities for buyers and generous royalties for image creators, Dreamstime has built an enthusiastic global base that spans all user types, including individuals, small businesses, top web design firms and global advertising agencies.

According to Serban Enache, the company's CEO and co-founder, the Dreamstime community continues to grow at a rapid pace, partly thanks to the fact that the stock photography industry today has evolved into a valuable, authentic resource. The main reason people are willing to pay for stock photography, Enache said, is that "our high quality images bring a professionalism and visually-pleasing aesthetic to whatever medium they are used in."

Passing 30 million images in the Dreamstime library is an important milestone, Enache emphasized, which speaks to the wide range of subject matter covered by the company's global photographers.

"This milestone proves our market position as a trusted stock imagery source," he said. "We receive close to 1.5 million new submissions each month, yet we only accept a percentage of those as being up to our standards. Thanks to the diversity provided by our community and the volume brought in, we now have more than 200,000 contributors, with 4,000 new ones joining monthly. That's an amazing accomplishment considering the entire industry had less than 10,000 photographers about 10 to 15 years ago. Users today are viewing stock photography in general as 'less staged' and more authentic."

Dreamstime recently launched Dreamstime Companion, a unique mobile app that enables professional stock photographers to submit images directly from their smartphones and offer them for sale to the company's more than 8.2 million users. As a result of the app's success, a number of new contirbutors have joined the community, tripling monthly over the course of the last year.
