We rapidly increase our midstock and microstock collection of royalty free
images and this keeps our hands busy all the time. The infrastructure we
choose for www.pixamba.com is extremely versatile and can be adjusted
according to the system load and storage capacity. Since both the load and
the images collection growth all the time, and fast, we work around the clock
ensuring high system uptime and short response time.
It seems that we are on the right way: the response time of the system is
very good even now and it is going to be even faster soon, when we'll do some
more IT & development work.
Meanwhile, our editors receive daily hundreds of adorable new royalty free
photos and illustrations like this one:

The number of submissions grows daily, hope it will keep going this way.
The MIN upload size went down from 6 MP to 4 MP, thus helping our
contributors to submit many stock illustrations that were prepared for other
stock agencies at smaller sizes. We also have found and fixed a few site
issues, including MS IE tricks with our categories tree.

NEW YORK, NY, December 22, 2009 – Fotolia is part of a handful of companies
that grew during the global recession, and this month, the online image
provider celebrates its fifth anniversary. During 2009, the company saw its
online library double to over 8,000,000 images and nearly 2 million images
were downloaded every month. Since December 2006, membership increased nearly
10-fold, with over 1.5 million people worldwide now signed up to the site.
CEO Oleg Tscheltzoff explains the secret to Fotolia’s success: “Sourcing
photos, vectors, and videos that are legal for commercial and promotional use
from the most talented artists around the world has enabled Fotolia to
provide incredible value. Designers, marketing, and creative professionals
traditionally paid upwards of $500 per image in the past. Fotolia offers the
same quality and usage rights starting at $1.”
Fotolia launches a strong operation to attract “big” contributors. With
the slogan “Gain instantaneous recognition with Fotolia!”, Operation
Level Ground gives artists the freedom to upload their existing portfolios to
Fotolia and receive equivalent download ranking. Artists have the chance for
their achievements to be recognized by increasing earnings while enhancing
their global profile.
For those who have sold microstock in the past, Fotolia will recognize their
download sales from other services. For those who have sold “macrostock”
and traditional stock photography, Fotolia will recognize their lifetime
sales as equivalent to download sales.
